Insane

Do kids drive us insane? I'm thinking so. Now Kaitlyn will have to pay for me a boob job (she made them drop, so she has to make my girls stand back up) and the loony bin. I'll have the best boobs at the crazy farm. It stinks for her she's an only child because there will be no spreading out the cost.

How many times a day can I say things like "get out of the trash!!!", "leave the dogs water alone!", "do you want a spanking?", and my favorite, "stop drinking the dogs water!"? Today alone I have said the first three countless times and taken a toy dish away because I was hearing slurping sounds coming from it. Gross!!! Kaitlyn shouldn't be coming from the kitchen making slurping noises unless I have given her a drink with a straw. Thank goodness the dogs rarely if ever touch their water bowl. I put so much water in their food they drink little else. Kaitlyn has been spilling the water so much it's always being changed out. But, whatever, my kid drank dog water. I think the worst is when you look up and she has the whole bowl and the gap between it and her mouth is quickly closing. I'm not sure if she has done it yet, but I've stopped her a couple times.

I know "get out of the trash" isn't that bad of a saying, but there have been others that are quite doozies. After saying something particularly insane I replay it in my head thinking how crazy parents sound. We say things we shouldn't have to. I find myself saying the most random things to Kaitlyn.

Other things I've said today...

"Mommy said no!"
"Get that pillow out of your mouth!"
"Get out of the kitchen!"
"Don't drop that!!!"
"Mommy's had enough!"

First Cookie

Kaitlyn had her first cookie today. We've never given her sweets so this was a big first. Neal made some Monster Cookies today. I licked the beater; someone had to do it. =) After Kaitlyn woke up from her nap Neal gave her a bite of the batter. He said, "It was the oatmeal part" as if that made it any better. He asked if I wanted to give her a bite too; I gave her a cookie. LOL... Okay, I didn't give her the whole cookie. She got maybe three small bites. Earlier she came running to me with a cookie in her hand. She took a bite just before getting to me and said, "Mmmm" then handed over the cookie. Stinker. I had to go move the cookies.

"Oh No!"

How long does it take for a child to start picking up after themselves once they have noticed they are messy?

Over the weekend we went to base leaving Kaitlyn's toys all over the living room floor. When we returned Kaitlyn stopped in the doorway looking at all her toys and said, "oh no". Neal and I both were rolling. We saw the mess that shocked her.

On a positive note she is getting better at helping me pick up her toys. I've tried saying, "bring me your toys" and that doesn't work so I moved to "bring me the.... (books, people (Little People), rings and so on)" and it works like a charm. Some times I do have to follow up my "bring me..." statement with "do you want a spank?", but the job always gets done.

Kaitlyn's big thing right now is to stuff toys in a box, cubbies in her little kitchen set, and her Little People house or bus. Last night she was cramming discovery blocks (clear blocks with fun things in the middle) into her Little People house. she was using the doors and open windows as her stuffing holes of choice. Suddenly shrieking broke out "Stuck! Stuck! Stuck!" She looked at me as though I was awful for not helping. The child had put one to many blocks into the house and couldn't get the door close. After a lot of crying she finally moved on to dumping it all out and trying again. I didn't know she even knew the word "stuck", but she has started using it a lot.

Cold

I hate Kaitlyn being cold. Friday night I put her to bed in sleeping shorts and a shirt. Yes, I know this goes against my first statement. I thought she would be fine because I put a heavy quilt on her too. Well, Kaitlyn couldn't seem to stay under the quilt. Before I went to bed I had to cover her a second time. In the middle of the night I wake up to crying. My baby's cold. She was really cold. I sat on the step stool next to her bed with her rolled into a ball in my lap. I wrapped the quilt around her then waited on her to warm up. After a few minutes she started leaning to her bed. I laid her down then went for some sweat pants. When I came back she was still rolled into a ball and felt just as cold as when I first found her. I swapped the shorts for the pants and went in search of socks. There was a laundry basket of Kaitlyn's clean folded laundry just outside her door so I started looking through that with the help of a night light. Before I found socks Kaitlyn came walking out of her room dragging her quilt. In my split second panic (my baby is cold) and hesitation (what do I do) I wrapped the quilt around her and popped her in bed with me. She was not only warm, but asleep in no time. Thankfully Neal had fallen asleep on the couch watching TV and never came to bed so I was able to push Kaitlyn to his side of the bed after she was warm. If he had been in there our bed would have just been a little more crowded. Around 7:30AM he came in and I stopped him before he tried rolling on our fluffy covers and Kaitlyn.

Yesterday we went back to the BX and bought Kaitlyn three sweatsuits to sleep in. I know what you're thinking, "Why sweatsuits and not blanket sleepers?" Good question. The BX gets maybe two shipments of PJs in the fall and one or two in the spring. They NEVER have enough for the whole base. When I originally bought Kaitlyn the blanket sleepers I bought two twin packs. I returned the two and only replaced them with one twin pack; at that time I didn't know we would be here until January. When I went back all the sleepers were gone. A lady was just putting out some sweat suits, but Kaitlyn only wears those around the house so I dismissed them. About 36 hours later there were three tops left and thankfully two of them were 2t. There were maybe 10 bottoms, four of which were 24 months or 2t. I took both tops and three of the bottoms. Let's just say Kaitlyn was warm last night.

By the way, it was 35 when we woke up yesterday. Brrr...

MOPS and other updates

Kaitlyn loves going to MOPS (Mother's Of Preschoolers). As soon as we get into the chapel she wants to go straight to the one year old room. Because there are so many one year olds they now have them in two rooms. Today I took her to the main room and asked if they were full; they were. Kaitlyn started flipping out. I'm trying to walk her to the second room and she thinks we are leaving. She was pulling away from me trying to get into the room. I kept telling her she was going to get to play and that we were going into the next room. Nothing helped. I finally got her to the next room and put her in before signing her in. She took off. When I finally had her signed in and the name sticker for her back she was happy as a lark playing with stamps. I don't think she was doing much stamping as much as taking the bottom off and on. They were the same kind of ink stamps I had as a kid. She got to play with the paints a little bit. I came home with her hand prints on paper. Beyond Kaitlyn's thrill of playing with kids the meeting was great. I enjoy spending time with other Christian ladies. At the next meeting I will be in with the kids. I figured I better take my turn in there so when they said they were short I volunteered.

After a bout Monday of what looked like a rerun of the same sickness Kensey had before I called the vet and started giving him the meds I was sent home with last time. After a full 24 hours off meds I called the vet and cancelled his appointment that should have been today. He seems just fine.

Our move has been pushed back two to two and a half months. The new job Neal was going for he got accepted to do. The tech school for that job starts January 6th. We are trying to decided now how to hand us leaving being all jumbled into the holidays. We are nowhere near an answer yet, but were talking today about leaving between Christmas and New Years. Can you imagine being in a hotel over Christmas? It really wouldn't matter in the long run seeing how if we were here at the house we wouldn't have any Christmas decor because all our household goods would be gone or about to leave.
Just for giggles I thought I would share this picture with you. Kaitlyn thinks it's okay to sit in her doll strollers. Notice the bar sticking out by her thigh. There used to be fabric there, but her heavy booty is ripping it. I figured when it officially breaks I'll rip all the seams out and use it as a pattern to make another seat. Her TV watching from this perch didn't last much longer because the back wheel (as you can see) fell down into the couch.

Happy Birthday!

I was going to post it yesterday, but after my long post I thought I would hold off until today. Yesterday, was my big brother's 34 birthday. By the way, I don't have a little brother or sister; I just wanted to make sure you all knew he is the older sibling. Hehehe... 34! Doesn't that make you want to fall right out of your seat?! One day him and I are going to be in our 50's, we will be chatting to someone online who assumes we are in our 20's or 30's, but nope... Anyway, Happy Birthday Big Brother!

I would also like to say a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sister-in-law. Her birthday was actually on Tuesday. She's younger then me so we won't be talking about her age. =)

Yesterday Kaitlyn Joy turned 21 months old. Do you know what that means? Christmas is three months from today. Those who start shopping now will not be so strapped for cash in December as most people.

On a random Christmas note, I've been tempted to buy and put up a Christmas tree now. We don't know where we will be in December or if we will even have a tree to put up. If anyone was around here last Christmas you may remember I put up a tree, but if fell within the first hour. After taking off all the ornaments and lights I couldn't get it to stand back up. I finally had to take off all the limbs then the base would stand. That was it! Our $10 after Christmas bargain tree has seen it's last Christmas in our house. I boxed the thing up and we gave it to the resale shop on base.

Superhero ~ 100th post in 2008!

Kaitlyn has discover she is a superhero. She can take of her socks in the blink of an eye. I've seen her do it, it's amazing. I can put her socks on her 4-5 times a day and like Wonder Woman she can do a little spin and their gone. She is trying to prefect this talent with her shirt too. A couple days ago she was wearing a long sleeve onesie when she took one arm out and trying for the second when I stopped her. She did this about three times throughout the day.

What Kaitlyn doesn't understand is that she's not the only one with superpowers. I have mommy senses; like Spidey senses only stronger. I knew she was about to wear her shirt around her waist and kept catching her and putting it back on. Along with mommy senses I also have the ability to kill with my bare hands anyone who hurts my off spring. I can function on little to no sleep. I can multi task like last night when I was going to the bathroom, brushing my teeth and catching up on a novel all at the same time. Not multi tasking means I may have had to wait another day or two on 1 or 2 of those things because said "off spring" demands attention. I have the ability to transform. My lap transforms into the most comfortable place to sit, throw a tantrum, and climb on; all of these happen multiple times a day. Many times they happen back to back in the order given as if someone hit the "loop" button.

Every superhero has their weak point. What's mine? Tantrums for one. Enough tantrums strung throughout the day can momentarily wear down my Mommy Nerves of Steele. Even superheros must know when to walk away or how to put their cryptonite in their room.

Oh man, my mommy sense weren't at their peak because I was typing and now my off spring has lost their pants. Our house is on the cold side, to cold to be missing half your clothes. I know she's only in a onesie because she can be.

Today's socks and slippers

Today's pants

And here's my half naked child in a cold house.

By the way, this is what she slept in not her outfit for today.

In other non superhero related news, today is when head quarters is supposed to FINALLY review Neal's application for a job change. We are supposed to learn the results tomorrow. It's this job change information that is holding us up on moving. Hopefully we will know something soon.

My mommy senses have kicked back in and they are saying forget looks do what you have to in order for her pants to stay on. I just dressed her and left the onesie on; it's snapped on the outside of her pants. Hehehe... Now she really looks like a superhero with underpants on the outside.

Do you think she is warm now? I hope so. Her legs were icy.
