Easter

Our Easter morning didn't get a bright welcome like we had wished for. We had to submit to the snow and give up the first egg hunt. This was our first big snow all winter and it actually waited until early spring to arrive and Easter day no less.

I put Kaitlyn's Easter outfit on her and let her go at her Easter basket. She got necklaces, bracelets, a bunny, little Cinderella and Prince Charming dolls and two books. I also bought her magnet letters, but gave them to her the day before. She spent a lot of time playing with Prince Charming. I told Neal it was just like a girl to prefer Prince Charming.
I had to read her "Who Stole The Cookie From The Cookie Jar?" three times in a row last night. She likes the rhyme and was in a crabby mood so I just kept reading. The whole time she was fingering the little plastic cookies at the bottom of the book.Oh church... The service was geared toward kids so they asked all the parents to bring the children to the front. Out of the six kids present five were 11 months to 2 years. Basically there were a lot of restless young ones at the front. I was feeding Kaitlyn the bread sticks from a Handi Snack and juice to keep her in my lap. The Easter service was a guy doing Charlie (a bunny puppet) And The Chocolate Mystery Sunday. The guy went back and forth from doing magic to playing with the puppet. All the while weaving a story about Jesus. Anyway... after Kaitlyn finished her bread sticks she saw fit to play with the Handi Snack packaging. If you have a toddler who is eating a Handi Snack during church don't give them the wrapper with the sealed cheese pack. Kaitlyn bit the cheese pack causing it to explode all over her hands, face, and top as well as my left hand. I gasped then scooped her up and ran to the bathroom. I wasn't gone long when another mother came in to see if Kaitlyn vomited. After realizing what happened she had a good laugh then started cleaning cheese off Kaitlyn's head. If I wanted my child to get dirty I would have fed her the cheese with the bread sticks. Because of her cheese covered self we never did get a full body picture of her in her Easter outfit.

We might do an egg hunt when Neal gets home seeing how it's not snowing today. I'll have to wash her clothes and try again at getting a good picture. She did keep her big flower/bow on throughout church. Shortly before leaving for church I panicked thinking the bow and headband would spend most of the time on the floor and made her a smaller bow. I never had to resort to the smaller bow.

Socks and Easter oufit

Not only can she say sock, but she can now take them off. Several times yesterday Kaitlyn walked up to me saying something like sock while holding a sock up for me to see. I would put the sock back on her foot and a little bit later she would do it again. My one sock wonder has done it twice today and currently only has one sock on.

Kaitlyn has a dry cough right now. I'm not sure what brought it on, but I wish it would quickly go away. I could hear her coughing off and on last night.

I finished Kaitlyn's Easter outfit over the weekend. I know I was cutting it close, but the ribbon just arrived in the mail Friday I believe. I was a bit disappointed the ribbon wasn't the pink/peach color I had hoped it to be. I really didn't have time to reorder so I used it anyway. It does match the flowers, but seeing how they aren't the predominate color well... yeah, grrr. I was worried about buying green, but now I'm thinking I probably should have.

These are her SewSensible Boutique Bottoms. They came out great. Because she wears cloth diapers I had to redo the waistband casing to give a little bit more room for her big tall diapers. You can see it a little bit in the picture above, but it's not as bad as it first was. I've made her a second pair of these and added a little extra fabric to the top so they will be higher.

She wasn't being a good model. This was the best front view I could capture of the Stripwork top from Dainty Designs. I wish you could see how well the top goes with the bottoms. Maybe we can get a better picture Sunday.

I actually made her another outfit over the weekend. I used Wizard of Oz fabric and my SewSensible Dress Top and Boutique Bottoms pattern.

Kaitlyn knew just what to do with the purse. She smiled when I showed it to her and stuck out her arm. She is really into purses right now which makes scraps a good thing. I've seen her several times with her other two purses on her arm and around her neck. She likes filling them up with Little People.

I'm not sure I've said this on here before, but for those who are just learning to sew or would like to tackle your first pattern SewSensible is a great place to start. She give wonderful directions complete with pictures. Personally, I can't just read directions and do something I need pictures. The pictures in the two SewSensible patterns I have are excellent. B**b Fascination

Kaitlyn can always make me laugh by the quirky things she does. Kaitlyn is learning all her body parts. Out of fear of her touching a strangers boobs Neal didn't want me to teach her that part. My one question is why is a stranger close enough my baby can touch her boobs??? Anyway, Kaitlyn has been saying belly for a while now. She has to look at her belly every time she says "be-be". Well... Tonight she was kneeling in my lap when she decided to point out my boobs. I was laughing so hard when she pulled my top out to take a good look at mom's boobs. I'm telling you I think tears were falling from me laughing so hard. With her arm down my shirt firmly placed between my boobs she declared "bo-be". I kept having to make her get her hand out of my shirt. Okay, maybe you would have to have been here. I'm telling you it was funny. I think what really got me was she actually noticed I have breast. She never cared about them before.

Hands

I've noticed over the last month Kaitlyn's hands have changed. She no longer has the soft delicate skin of a newborn. It's kind of sad to see her hands progress on because you know she is leaving her baby years behind. It won't be long and Christmas will be back around bringing on Kaitlyn's toddler years. I know it's good she grows up so I won't try to stop it.

Speaking of growing up Kaitlyn is entering the awkward clothing size. For that matter so have I, but it's not a good thing with me. Hehe... 12 month clothes still fit Kaitlyn, but I've notice some seem a bit more snug. 18 months are crazy big. She is wearing an 18 month outfit right now and the legs are so long the only thing holding them up are the gigantic slippers on her feet; yes one more thing we are in between. Kaitlyn has been stuck at a 4.5 shoe size for a while. I'm not complaining about her feet not growing. We all know she has little hope of small feet being my child. Our problem is finding the half size. All her shoes are whole sizes. People comment on her big feet not knowing lost in that shoe somewhere is a smaller foot wanting to get out. Actually because her shoes are all to big her feet do get out many times. I take my "all" back she has some Pedipeds that fit well. Our only problem with those are they have slick bottoms making it hard for her to walk on tile.
Look how big those slippers are. I put them on her to keep her feet warm. They are so big they try to turn sideways on her feet. Because the 18 month clothes she has on were the warmest I could find when dressing her this morning I figured I better pair them with her big slippers to hold the pants up. I could easily cut 3" off the pants and she would never miss it; until she finally hits a growth spurt that is.

Finished!

I finished Kaitlyn's top and pants. I should have put a long sleeve shirt on her for the picture, but I grabbed a short sleeve onesie and goodness my child is white. I now know if you are going to wear bright clothes you need a colored top too or you look pasty. I would now like to present one pasty child. LOL...

New Tops

I tried out the patterns I mentioned a few post back. Here's the stripwork top.

The day I finished this one the fabric for her Easter outfit arrived. I really need to order the ribbon so I'll have it in time. Now don't judge the top because of how she looks. She is still in her PJs without a bow in her hair. I'll admit she's looking a bit rough this morning. Around her feet is a purse I made to match her top. This top goes well with a light blue pair of blue jeans she has and a yellow flower clip in her hair.

Last night I was almost finished with the dress top pattern when I ran out of thread. =( I had to call it quits when I was almost done. I still need to put the elastic in and finish top stitching. Being the impatient type I put the top on her and pinned it up.

The booty really isn't this big on the dress nor is Kaitlyn's booty that big. Remember I pinned the dress in the back. There should be elastic there. It's much cuter in real life. When my fabric arrive in the mail I was disappointed to learn the fabric for the pants was out of stock so... Kaitlyn is pants less. I actually had just enough of the top material to make two ruffles I'm going to add to some cheap Walmart pants that are to long for her anyway. If I don't get the ribbon in time this may end up being her Easter outfit.

Maybe this is a little better view. I couldn't keep her still while I snapped pictures. She thought it was funny to walk to me and fall into my lap. Goodness my child is looking homely today.

Church & Nap Time

Kaitlyn's naps are clashing with church and it's killing us. Today she got up early and was ready for her nap more then an hour early. I put her down in hopes of either her getting up in time or us waking her up before church. In the end we decided to let her sleep. She didn't wake up until 12:30ish. It almost makes me wish we still went to C3 so we could go to the third service at 5 pm.

However, Kaitlyn looked totally cute today in her new top I made with the matching purse. I need to get a picture of her in it.

Kaitlyn is really starting to notice her dolls. Neal caught her pointing out her doll's ear then pointing at her own ear while saying "Eh-a". This evening we went to the BX and looked at the toys. As we were walking through the dolls one of them started talking to us. Kaitlyn HAD to stop and check it out. The doll would coo, cry, say momma and it seemed like it responded to us; however, the response may have been coincidence. We laughed and it made a happy sound.
