Trust

Today I went to "Lunch with the Administrator" at Kaitlyn Joy's school.  During their chapel, they are working on the fruits of the spirit all year and this month is Joy.  At the beginning of her message she was talking about how the Bible calls us to forgive.  She said because we really don't forget what happened we find ourselves having to forgive someone for the same thing many times.  She then said just because we forgive someone doesn't mean we trust them.  I think people can forget that sometimes.  They expect trust to be freely given.  She of course said what we already know and that's that trust is earned.  So how is one to earn trust?  Be trustworthy?  Well of course, but just because you were FINALLY trustworthy today doesn't mean I should hand over my trust to you.  Especially if you have a history of being untrustworthy.  In that case you will have to daily prove yourself.  What does this have to do with joy you ask????  To have full joy you must forgive people.  However, those people can cause you grief because they expect your trust once you forgive them.
